  • The Program Manager staff position will create depth of STEM programs, particularly competitive robotics and drones in addition to expanding services offered by the Cal Ripken Sr STEAM Center of Excellence and STEM camps. 

  • Our STEM engagement spans from pre-Kindergarten to University and provides programs that provide awareness, leadership training, and educator opportunities. 

  • A desire to learn and grow, take initiative, be flexible, enjoy working with others and implement change designed to impact the future of STEM education is critical to the work of our team. 

  • The Program Manager will be an active member of the R4C staff that includes full time professionals, contract workers, professional volunteers and student leaders.


This role requires a good deal of non-traditional hours as you are working with students during out of school time, including evenings, weekends and summers. Flexibility is a key to this role as well as creative problem solving and a desire to mentor youth from elementary through career. Additionally, it is critical to maintain a professional demeanor and you must have character above reproach, because you are a role model to students and leaders at R4Creating.

Program Manager Job Announcement


Position Summary

R4Creating (R4C) is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) 501c3 supporting education and enrichment through a variety of programs for students, educators and the community. While the organization was officially established in 2017, we have been serving the community and state since 2005 with our award winning programs. 


Reports to: Executive Director

Classification: Full Time, In Person


Programmatic Responsibilities

  • Coach, plan and develop competitive and non-competitive robotics teams including BEST, VEX VRC, VEX IQ, Combat Bots and Drones

  • Manage and maintain summer camp programs - including development, implementation and staffing

    • Collect and record program data, and demographics and manage evaluations

    • Manage pre and post program evaluations

    • Create quarterly impact reports using collected data

    • Travel to and coach teams to events, both in and out of town

  • Develop and manage STEAM Center of Excellence program and training for community and educators

    • Speaker Series

    • Additional events


Required and Demonstrable Skills

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Suite type programs including Word and Excel, data entry programs and project management platforms

  • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple initiatives

  • Experience working with non-profit or other businesses that rely on donations and fundraising is desired

  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers, recruiting and organization

  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written

  • Experience leading classes of students in the use of emerging technology

  • Experience managing teams of staff including professionals and interns

  • Experience with programming languages

  • Experience with robotic engineering including the use of maker space equipment


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Recruit students and educators to participate in R4C programs

  • Supervise student interns, contractors and other support staff and volunteers

  • Assist with executing PR for programs to develop community awareness and support

  • Enthusiastically supports the R4C Mission, including a commitment to STEM education and enrichment, working with youth, workforce development, and building an organization that transforms lives.

  • A desire to commit to serving the organization long term

  • Previous experience coaching robotics teams highly desirable
