The Friends of Coronado present our fun-filled annual Fiesta of Cultures celebrating Pueblo, Hispanic, and Anglo artistic and cultural traditions. Come enjoy the blending of cultures with entertainment, demonstrations, and fine arts and crafts vendors selling amazing jewelry, pottery, tinwork, decorative gourds, weavings and fine art paintings.  

We’ll feature traditional Zia pottery firings, and blacksmithing demonstrations. Loving Thunder’s newest therapeutic riding pony will join the Fiesta along with friendly llamas and rescued raptors. We’re pleased to have a special performance by the exciting Mariachis Buenavista at 11 am, followed by Bernalillo’s Matachines Dancers at 1 pm and 3 pm.    You can meet some “Spanish Settlers” who will share their culture, then stop by local food vendors for yummy refreshments. We’ll have a hands-on crafts table for all ages, plus a children’s face painting booth!   Enjoy the beautifully updated museum exhibits plus a visit to the painted Kiva. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Dubbed the Millennial Kronos, SYBARITE5 is a string quintet with an eclectic repertoire and commanding performance style that are turning heads throughout the music world. From Elgar to Radiohead, Piazzolla to Brubeck, these talented, diverse musicians take the audience on an exciting ride that engages the senses and redefines the rules.

Baracutanga is a New Mexico-based, seven-piece band representing four different countries (Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, and the USA) that prides itself on arranging traditional South American rhythms in new and interesting ways. This kind of experimentation, blending ancestral traditions with a modern sensibility, yields an exciting and distinct Latin flavor all its own. Lyrically and musically, Baracutanga builds bridges between the south and the north. With their affinity and respect for native rhythms from the lands of their ancestors, the group finds common ground in creating songs which cross linguistic and cultural barriers.
