The Sr. Accountant will perform all general accounting functions to include preparation of payroll, funder billing, month end close, and bank reconciliations.  Responsible for complex balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis. Prepares cost allocations and monitoring of grant spending for city, state, and federal funds.  Assist with financial and compliance reporting.  Oversee the management of accounts receivable and accounts payable.   Works closely with all staff and Director of Finance on a wide range of financial issues.  Assists Director of Finance with cash management, administrative responsibilities, and ongoing special projects. Assists with budgeting, annual audit and funder monitoring.

Requirements

1.     Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 3-5 years of experience.  Equivalent years of experience may be considered.

2.     A good working knowledge of cost accounting or fund accounting in a nonprofit setting

3.     Well versed in Quickbooks desktop or on-line.

4.     Experience in housing and related development a plus.

5.     Excellent written and oral communication skills        

6.     Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, and other accounting software.

7.     Ability to multitask, handle multiple interruptions, and meet deadlines.

8.     Ability to empathize with clients and the barriers they might face.

9.     Ability to maintain positive working relationships.
